Job Description

Role Overview

Our client is currently in the market for a Graduate Finance Assistant to come and join their busy team! The successful candidate will be accountable for the delivery of fiscal management assistance and the precise and prompt recording of monetary information following the organization's guidelines and protocols.

Responsibilities

  • To aid the CFO in the establishment of an annual budget at the beginning of each financial year, including the creation of yearly estimates of income and expenses for long-term planning.
  • To manage, maintain, assess, and operate our client's computerized and manual accounts systems to support expenses and income in relation to the budget. This includes orders, commitments, invoices.
  • To support end of year procedures in accordance with Trusts and Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) requirements.
  • To provide management information to Budget Holders, CFO, or Board of Directors upon request.
  • To keep analyses of costs and other statistical records if necessary.
  • To assist with the Trusts Gift Aid procedures, including accurately recording donations and making claims to HM Revenue & Customs if needed.
  • To manage, maintain, and operate School journey accounts, which involve costing, formal approvals, receipts, income, expenses, banking, refunds, funding, grants, entitlement, and reconciliation.
  • To assist in the management and recording of the school meals and School journeys accounts and student bursaries.
  • To support the recording of income receipt from parents through the 'ParentPay' website, PayPal, and similar platforms.
  • To assist the CFO in maximizing our client's income sources and reviewing expenses for best value.
  • To aid the CFO in seeking new income sources to benefit our client.
  • To provide monthly information on the purchase and disposal of items to be included on the Trust’s Equipment Registers and to conduct periodic stock checks.
  • To offer other administrative support, including dealing with photocopying, correspondence, compilation or analysis of reports, etc., if requested.

Requirements

  • Educated to GCSE Level (or equivalent) with 5 GCSEs A*-C including English and Maths
  • Relevant accounting qualification or finance experience desirable
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software, e.g. Excel and Word.
  • Good communication skills in a variety of contexts (verbal, email, written) and with people at all levels.
